This Privacy Policy describes how Timing Lions ("the App") handles information. The short version: we collect no personal data whatsoever.
1. Information We Collect
We collect no personal information. The App does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email address, location, or any other identifying information.
2. Microphone Usage
Timing Lions requests access to the device microphone solely to measure ambient sound levels in real time. Specifically:
- Audio input is sampled locally on-device to compute a volume level.
- No audio is ever recorded, saved to disk, or stored anywhere.
- No audio data is ever transmitted off the device.
- The microphone is only active while the App is in the foreground and the noise-monitoring feature is enabled.
You can revoke microphone access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. The timer features of the App continue to function without microphone access.
3. Data Storage
User preferences (such as timer durations and sound thresholds) are stored using Apple's AppStorage (UserDefaults) entirely on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
4. Analytics and Tracking
The App contains no analytics, no crash reporting services, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind. We do not use Apple's App Analytics data to identify individuals.
5. Third-Party Services
The App makes no network requests. There are no third-party SDKs integrated into the App. No data is shared with any third party.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Timing Lions is designed for use by parents and teachers with or around children. Because we collect no personal information from any user, the App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 — or from anyone else.
7. Data Retention
Because we do not collect data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. App preferences stored locally can be removed by deleting the App from your device.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version here with an updated "Last updated" date. Because the App collects no data, material changes are unlikely.
